In addition to leading our outstanding physical education program, Mr. Gerals Baker is our Athletic Director. He coordinates our athletic program which offers all of our students the opportunity to participate in extra-curricular athletics. Courtyard is a member of PAL, a sports league that is comprised of over forty private schools in the Sacramento area. Fifth and sixth grade students participate in PAL’s JV program which offers fall, winter and spring sports for both boys and girls. Fall JV sports are Boys Flag Football and Girls Volleyball. Winter JV sports for both boys and girls including basketball and volleyball. Beginning in the fall of 2011, middle school students will participate at the varsity level.
Boys and girls in kindergarten through fourth grades can participate in the Little Dribblers basketball program during the winter season. Little Dribblers is a specially designed program that helps young athletes learn the skills of basketball and team sports participation in a format that emphasizes fun and skills development.
Courtyard’s athletic program emphasizes sportsmanship, fitness, and overall skill-building. Our focus is on participation and teamwork while recognizing and supporting the benefits gained through healthy competition. Courtyard is a part of the Positive Coaching Alliance and all of our coaching is done by parent volunteers.
